Privacy policy
ResponseHSC (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy describes how we handle personal information when you use our website and practice tools.
What we collect
- Account details: if you sign in with Google or email, we process identifiers your provider gives us (for example email address and name) to create and secure your account.
- Practice data: responses you submit, marking results, timestamps, and related session details you choose to save—stored to power your history and dashboard.
- Support & feedback: messages you send via feedback or report forms.
- Technical data: standard server and hosting logs (for example IP, device/browser type, pages visited) as processed by our hosting provider.
How we use information
- To run the service: authentication, saving attempts, generating AI marking and feedback.
- To improve safety, reliability, and product quality.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
- To meet legal obligations where required.
NESA and third parties
ResponseHSC is an independent study tool. We are not endorsed by, affiliated with, or sponsored by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), the NSW Department of Education, or any examination authority. HSC is a trademark of NESA; use of the term here refers to the style of questions commonly used in NSW senior English courses and does not imply official approval. Practice questions may reference past papers or sources for educational context; rights in those materials remain with their owners.
AI processing
Your answers and question context may be sent to our AI provider to produce marking and feedback. Those providers process data under their terms and policies; we configure the service for marking use only and do not use your content for unrelated model training unless a provider’s default terms apply—check their documentation for details.
Where data is stored
Data may be stored with our database, authentication, email, hosting, and AI vendors (for example in Australia or overseas, depending on provider region). We use reputable services and reasonable safeguards appropriate to the data.
Cookies, local storage, and similar tech
We use cookies and similar technologies where needed for sign-in sessions (for example NextAuth) and preferences (for example theme). Practice drafts may be stored in your browser’s local storage so you can continue an attempt without us continuously writing drafts to our database. You can clear site data in your browser to remove locally stored drafts.
Retention
We keep account and practice information while your account exists and as needed for backups, security, and legal compliance. You can delete your account from your profile settings, which removes your stored responses and profile data from our systems in the ordinary course; some records may be retained where the law requires.
Your choices
- Access or update profile details via your account where available.
- Delete your account from the Profile page, or disconnect Google and stop using the service.
- For privacy questions or requests, email us at the contact you are given in-app or on this site once published.
Children
The service is aimed at students and educators. If you are under 13, you should use the site only with a parent, guardian, or school’s permission as required in your region.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy; we will note the “last updated” date at the bottom of this page.
Contact
For privacy enquiries, contact the site operator using the support or feedback channel listed on the website, or add a dedicated privacy email when you publish one.
